What cookies we use and how to control them
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies Insurance101 uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, phone or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to website owners.
Cookies are not programs — they cannot run code or deliver viruses. They simply store small amounts of text.
We currently keep our cookie use to a minimum. Today, we only use cookies that are strictly necessary to make our website function correctly (essential cookies).
We do not currently use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or affiliate/referral tracking cookies. If we introduce any of these in future — for example, once affiliate partnerships with insurers go live — we will update this policy in advance and, where required by law, ask for your consent before any such cookies are set.
We do not use cookies to serve you targeted advertising.
These are the only cookies currently in use on our website. They are necessary for basic site function — such as our hosting provider serving pages correctly and securely — and cannot be switched off. We do not currently set cookies for consent management, analytics or advertising, so no such cookies appear below.
We do not currently run Google Analytics or any other analytics service on this website. If we introduce analytics in future, we will list the specific cookies used here and, where required, ask for your consent first.
We do not currently have live affiliate or referral partnerships, so no referral tracking cookies (for example, from networks such as Awin) are set on this website today. Once any such partnerships go live, clicking a referral link to an insurer may result in a cookie being set by that network so we can be credited with the referral. We will update this section with full details, including specific cookie names and durations, before any such cookies go live.
Some elements of our pages are loaded from third-party services. Currently, this is limited to:
We do not currently use Google Analytics, advertising networks, or affiliate tracking scripts. This section will be updated if that changes.
You can control and delete cookies in several ways:
All modern browsers allow you to manage cookies in their settings. You can block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies that have already been set. Note that blocking essential cookies will affect how the website works.
Because we currently only use essential cookies, a cookie consent banner is not required under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). If we introduce analytics, advertising, or referral tracking cookies in future, we will add a consent mechanism at that time so that any non-essential cookies are only set with your permission.
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time as we add or change cookies. The "last updated" date will reflect any changes.
